Hello there! My name is Naomi

Hello there! My name is Naomi – my friends call me Nao.

I am a thirty-something creative from the Netherlands. I used to work in healthcare, but I fell ill and am still experiencing some disabilities to this day. One of the remaining chronic conditions is something called Dysautonomia. It causes a lot of disregulation in processes normally regulated by your autonomic nervous system. A part of this disregulation was, in my case, diagnosed as POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

Because of this I struggle with sitting and standing and I have to lie down a lot these days. Sitting with my legs out in front of me helps as well. All this limits my available energy in a day quite a bit. So I am definitely what you call a slow artist these days – haha.

I like to spend my available energy on creating – whether that be writing, drawing, sculpting, embroidery. I just like to channel the love I feel for various things into tangible things. What you see on this website is the sculpting part! I used to sculpt Pokemon from air dry clay when I was a kid in elementary school – so in a way I came back to my childhood interest with this, as you will often find Pokemon among my current work as well!

Because I don’t have the same amount of energy to spend in a day as healthy people, my pace is quite low and apart from creating there’s often not much juice left for the business side of things. I’ve tried to turn this into a business but I sadly had to conclude I simply don’t have the capacity to do so at this time.

So it’s mainly therapeutic! It gives my days a bit more structure, my life more glimmers and purpose and I get to share my love for nerdy things with mutuals. I sometimes open a couple of commission slots and I love doing gift exchanges with my friends. And sometimes I just want to create freely, which turned into series like the Fruits Basket keycaps and the Pokemon Alphabet keycaps!
